… but know that there are other options!

There are several ways to avoid your busy polling place on Election Day, and you no longer need to provide a reason for voting by mail-in absentee ballot or in-person absentee.

mail-in ballotYou can vote by mail—but use the drop box at the Franconia Governmental Center! You can drop off your ballot during early voting hours listed below. The box is inside the door on the right side of the building. There is usually NO WAIT to drop off a ballot!

If you requested a mail-in ballot but now want to vote in person, take your ballot to an early voting site or your precinct on Election Day. You will surrender the mail-in ballot and be able to vote a regular ballot.

Anyone registered to vote in Fairfax County may vote early, with no excuse.

Vote absentee by mail

If you have received an absentee ballot, don’t procrastinate: Fill out your ballot and take it to a drop box. To be sure it gets counted, drop it off—don’t mail it.

Changes for 2020: You do not need to have a witness signature on your ballot, and you don’t need a stamp to return the ballot by mail.

Voting accessibility

Curbside voting is available for voters over age 65 or those with disabilities. If you choose to vote using this option, an election officer will bring a ballot to your car so you can vote. More information on voting accessibility can be found on the Virginia Department of Elections website.
